Check out Morgan's
pre-main event interview with ESPN's Harmonie Krieger.
Morgan takes 27th place in event #32, $1500 No Limit Holdem. With 2700+ starting players, he was very
dissappointed to get that close to a bracelet and fall short. "Houston" Ray Henson outraced his 77 with AK. Ray raised to 27K preflop, and Morgan moved in from
the big blind for 133K more. Ray didn't like it, but was not releasing AK in that spot. Ray opens with a variety
of starting hands, and Morgan was unlucky enough to run into one he would not lay down, then lose the race when a King hit
the board.
Morgan cashes in event #27, $1500
No Limit Holdem. The starting field of 2706 was down to 224 after the first days 10 levels. Starting
day 2 with $49,200 in chips, Morgan picked up Kings and got it all in pre-flop against Queens. The flop
brought a Queen and the turn & river bricked out, leaving Morgan with $9,000. He fought for an hour, but
could not recover, going out in 130th place.
This year has seen many top pros at the final tables, and capturing gold bracelets. Some friends with gold:
Erick E-Dog Lindgren takes down his first bracelet in event #4, $5000 Mixed (Limit / No Limit)
Matt Keikoan's first bracelet came in event #7, $2000 NLH
Rep Porter captures his first bracelet in event #9, $1500 6-Handed No Limit Holdem
Mike Matusow takes gold numero trey in event #18, No Limit 2-7 Draw with Rebuys
Vanessa Selbst takes down gold in event #19, $1500 Pot Limit Omaha
Daniel Negreanu picks up his 4th bracelet in event #20, $2000 Limit Holdem
Max Pescatori the Italian Pirate gets his second gold in event #24, $2500 Pot Limit Holdem / Omaha
Barry Greenstein adds a third bracelet to his collection in event #26, $1500 Razz
Congrats to some friends that went deep in the 2008 main event: Phil Hellmuth (45), Brandon Cantu (20),
Jeff Madsen, Matt Matros (78), Chip Jett (161) and Tiffany Michelle (17).
