AMIR VAHEDI - POKER PRO

Amir VahediBorn in Iran, Amir Vahedi now resides in Southern California and plays tournaments professionally.  Amir is always laughing and having a good time.  He has a great sense of humor and is sure to make you laugh...sometimes right after he takes a mound of your chips.  Amir is typically seen sporting a cigar, and he is quite the aficionado.

In 2003, Amir Vahedi took 6th place and $250,000 in the WSOP Championship Event.  He played aggressively, but was caught on a couple key bluffs by Farha to dash his chances for poker immortality as World Champion.  Amir finished 2003 as #2 Player of the Year, just behind Men "the Master" Nguyen.

Amir also spent considerable time in 2003 tutoring actor Ben Affleck in poker, initially as Ben?s birthday present.  Affleck won the $10,000 California State Poker Championship main event at the Commerce Casino in 2004, taking down $356,000 for his victory.  Ben played great and deserved the win, earning the respect of the pros.  Ben has most recently been tutored by 2004 WSOP Bracelet holder, Annie Duke.

Overall, Amir Vahedi has cashed in 118 poker tournaments equalling a payout of over $2.5 Million Dollars.

Below are some of Amir's past poker accomplishments.

Favorite Quotes:

"I am not afraid to put my money out there and sometimes you just need to let these players know who is the boss. You wanna mess with me, it's going to cost you.  Sometimes you have to be willing to die in order to live in these tournaments. That is basically it."

--Amir Vahedi (2003 WSOP Interview)
