Men
Nguyen’s story is more than just rags to riches.
Men escaped communist rule by boat in 1978 and lived
in a refugee camp before arriving in Los Angeles,
not knowing a word of English. He worked as a machinist
for the next 10 years, when he discovered poker on
a trip with friends to Vegas. That fateful trip was
a turning point in Men’s life, and he was determined
to study and become a great poker player. He was
a winning player in the late 1980’s, and owned a couple
businesses. In 1990 Men sold his business interests
to turn his full attention to poker, beginning his
illustrious professional poker career.
Men still resides in Southern California with his wife and 5 children,
but travels frequently to play in every major poker
tournament. The Master is very personable and charismatic,
always dressed to the nines. Men is talkative at
the tables, often making friends…and sometimes foes.
He has a great personality, and a great sense of humor.
20 minutes into any major event, you will hear Men’s
laugh or commentary, and everyone knows “the Master”
is in the house. Later in the tournament you can
be sure to find Men relaxed, sipping a bottle of Corona,
and thoroughly enjoying the game.
Men is one of the best tournament players today, winning so many
tournaments, it’s impossible to list them all. He
currently holds 4 WSOP bracelets, has hundreds of
final table appearances, and has won at least 100
tournaments. He has been Player of the Year in 1997,
2001 and 2003.
The Master is his nickname because of his mastery of the game of
poker. He has worked very hard to study the game
of poker, and continues to study the nuances of the
game every day. Men “the Master” has tutored many
other players that have become top pros, such as David
“the Dragon” Pham, Hon Le and Minh Nguyen.

Of
course Men "the Master" has many too many tournament
successes to list them all. His house is filled
with poker trophies, awards and plaques. There
are trophies in every room
and in the hallways.
Men
is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet,
a devout Buddhist and familyman. Men is very outgoing
and loves to enjoy himself, and is happiest when
he's making those around him laugh, which is always
the case.
